On a followup on the story "tapping into van der Waals forces", it would seem that researchers at BAE Systems has taken it one step further, replicating the adhesive van der Waals forces of gecko feet in a polyamide based material.

They figure that you could use the stuff to "glue" your car or pet elephant to the ceiling. Now why on earth would you want to do that? That's just cruel!
